Sophia Miller is a conductor, clinician, singer, songleader, and music educator based in New York City. Leading with a combination of artistic skill and a fully present heart, Sophia is known for her skillful leadership and commitment to empowering voices of all ages.

Sophia has served as a conductor and artistic leader with the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, the Boston Children’s Chorus, and the Savannah Children’s Choir, nurturing singers ages 8 to 18 in their growth as artists and individuals. She has conducted young people in performances, recording sessions, and collaborative projects across major stages in the U.S. and abroad. Today, she serves as the artistic director of the Fieldston Choral Society, an adult community chorus based in Manhattan; as a conductor for singers ages 7-14 at the Mannes Prep program at The New School; and as a conductor and music director of choral and musical theatre programs at the PreK-Grade 8 Ivy League School on Long Island.

Sophia has furthered her impact as a guest conductor and choral clinician, bringing her expertise to choristers and choral conductors around the US and the world. She has conducted All-State choirs in over 20 states at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as dozens of local and regional choral festivals. In early 2024, Sophia was deeply honored to conduct the ACDA Eastern Region Elementary Honor Choir. Sophia also joined Carnegie Hall’s Music Educators Workshop in the summer of 2024 as a member of their core faculty, bringing her expertise to music educators from around the country. Internationally, she most recently spent time making music with children in Guadalajara, Spain at La Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza de Cabanillas del Campo, as well as adolescent singers and aspiring conductors from over 50 countries around the world at the Ingenium Music Academy in Winchester, England. 

Sophia is a passionate and dedicated musical leader within the Unitarian Universalist church tradition. She is a proud part of the musical team at First Unitarian Church in Brooklyn, serving as a singer, songleader, choir conductor, soloist, and substitute music director. In the summer of 2024, Sophia served as musician-in-residence at Foothills Unitarian Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. She now continues to lead Foothills’ thriving music program as their Music Director.

Sophia serves as a conductor and clinician with Hal Leonard, bringing new works and professional development to educators nationwide. She studied music education, voice, and conducting at the Ithaca College School of Music, where she was recognized as an esteemed alumna for her dedication to celebrating and uplifting young voices. A performer as well, Sophia continues to sing regularly throughout New York City.
